"If there is magic on this planet, it is contained in water." - Loren Eiseley

Everyone appreciates a good story.
Ours doesn’t begin with “it was a dark and stormy night,” but rather with a quiet realization: we can do better.
With more than 35 years of experience across a wide range of civil engineering disciplines, Graig has seen the industry from every angle—working with firms large and small, and on projects across diverse regions. Along the way, he developed a clear understanding of what works well—and what can be improved.
Driven by that perspective and equipped with little more than a laptop and a passion for infrastructure, he set out to focus on what matters most to him: stormwater and floodplain management.
Human civilization has always been shaped by water—rivers, streams, and floodplains have supported growth and development for centuries. Yet these same systems can become unpredictable and destructive. When nature asserts itself, the consequences can be severe.
Graig approaches this challenge with an engineer’s mindset and a respect for the natural world. Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s principle that form follows function, he asks a fundamental question:
How can we build and sustain communities while working in harmony with nature?
Too often, we assume that any natural obstacle can be overcome with enough time and money—sometimes with costly consequences. Instead, Graig focuses on developing resilient, practical solutions that balance the needs of communities with the realities of the environment.
At Rain Engineering, that philosophy guides everything we do: thoughtful design, respect for natural systems, and infrastructure that works with water—not against it.
